Rooftop Rendezvous

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #59 Show Date: September 05, 2009.  Venue: The ClubHub

Jeremy and I had another gig at The ClubHub, owned by dear people named Freefall Ninetails and Fallingsnow Jewell.  These are great shows because they’re always well attended by a cool crowd of creative music lovers.  It’s fun to cam around and see all the interesting outfits people are wearing.  At this show, Fallingsnow was adorably dressed as a little green martian.  Oh yes, the joy of Second Life, where you can meet friends from the entire universe!

Feeling high after the show, we flew up to the rooftops in an area called ‘Red Light City’ to take our photos.  This racy district is the adult area of a company that makes animations, called Abranimations.  (For non SLers … avatars use animations to move.  For example, there are dance animations so you can dance well, guitar animations to you can actually ‘play’ the guitar, and indeed, there are sex animations so you can … well, you get the idea!)

We were careful not to look into any of the windows as we didn’t want to get fingered as peeping toms.

Thanks to Freefall and Fallingsnow for inviting us to play and to the people who came to the show, and to you for reading this post!

See credits after the cut.

Where Pigs Fly

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #57 Show Date: August 26, 2009.  Venue: The Rails Nightclub

In Second Life I’m the happy owner of a cute little pot bellied pig.  Furthermore, my pig can fly!  Allow me to introduce Portia.

I got her a while back, at a hunt.  She comes from a place called 6pi.  One of the added features of the hunts in sl, aside from the great treasures you find, is that we get to explore so many interesting locations.

And so, this little piggy lead us back to 6pi to take the pictures for this blog entry.  Check it out if you’re looking for a fun place to wander about.

Fan of You!

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #56 Show Date: August 19, 2009.  Venue: The Rails Nightclub

After cool weather and so much rain,  the gardens in Toronto are lush but the people have been waiting all summer for it to start.  Seems now the weather has changed and it is finally here.

And with that comes a need for fans, but due to the noise factor we don’t use them during the performance.  So, while we look to be as cool as cucumbers in SL, we were a warm bunch in real life!

There was a reporter at the show, called Any1 Gynoid from the SL Enquirer.  I found this ‘live action’ photo in her article, and when I saw it I realized I had forgotten to put on my beautiful flower necklace for the fan photographs.  It was made by Fuscia Jewell of Petal Meg Jewelery, who also makes flower jewelery in real life.

Adding to the heat at the show was hostess, Brucie Lusch.  We are so grateful to her for helping us out.  She has been with us once a week for a year now, and it makes such a difference to have her watching our backs.  And so cute and friendly .. a lot of fun in the room.  Not to mention her kung-fu skills, which come in handy whenever there is trouble.

Here’s a picture ..  Pretty and talented.  She made the frame in the photo, and all kinds of fun things that can be found in her curio shop, called Brucie’s Bits.

Brucie … We are fans of you !!  <3

Thanks for reading and please keep going for the credits.

We’ve been Framed

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #55 Show Date: August 15, 2009.  Venue: GOAT (Glamtastic Open Air Theater)

Q - Why is “G” the hottest letter in the alphabet?

A - Because it’s in the middle of August!

Hehe … a little weather joke I remember from a colouring book I had as a child.  Really only makes sense if the weather is hot in August though.  Not the case here in Toronto so far.

But in SL the weather is fine.  And the warmth of the group at The GOAT made for a sunny disposition.

Thanks to venue owners, MacKenzie Rasmusen and Case Munro, of the always entertaining band called “Friendly Fire”, for inviting us to play at their place.

Please read on for credits.
