The Rails Band ~ Show Today!

Hi!

Are you looking for a place to wear your Christmas clothing?!  Why not check out The Rails Band “2nd Annual Christmas Sweater Party” gig, today Wednesday, December 23rd at 2 pm slt?

We will be auditioning Rudolph on the drums, so come on out and see how he does!

It will be held at a wintery outdoor stage here

Bar Flies

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #74 Show Date: December 3, 2009.  Venue: The Rails Nightclub.

After our set, Chops invited us for a party at a great bar he frequents.

The drinks there were lovely … My favourite rl drink is pink champagne, but I’ve never been able to find it in SL, so it was a treat to have it here.  The whole menu of drinks was nice, with tasteful sparkles and the sounds of ice cubes clicking and sips being taken.  Worth a trip over to sample.  After a few, you might want to do some shopping at the shops at this well done New York City sim.

There was Kareoke and Chops thought everyone wanted another look at his new moustach, so he was hogging the mic.  Then Jeremy moved him along, so Jill & I could do our rendition of I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.

Perhaps we had one too many but hey, it was fun while it was happening!

The Rails Band ~ no show today

It is Thursday, the day that we usually have a full band show in SL, but today Jeremy Barracuda can’t make it, and what’s a rock band without an electric guitar player?!  Plus, he’s the guy who knows how to hook up all the right wires, so without Jer, there is no Rails music.

So instead of rocking out I will bake some cookies.

Tom the Turkey

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #73 Show Date: November 26, 2009.  Venue: The Rails Nightclub.

It was the Tuesday before our regular Thursday gig, and Jill was out doing a little shopping, when she met a turkey named Tom.  He and Jill got to talking and he told her he played the drums.  Since our drummer, Chops Baxton, was not going to be able to do the Thursday show, Jill asked if Tom would fill in.  He said he’d bring his own drumsticks (teehee)

Well, to make a long story short, he couldn’t drum at all, and just stood there on the stage and insulted people.  Seriously, that guy was rude.  Here are some of the things he said.

[14:18] Tom the Insult Turkey: Kiss my tailfeathers.
[14:19] Tom the Insult Turkey: No... pluck you!
[14:19] Tom the Insult Turkey: You don't have the giblets to baste me.
[14:23] Tom the Insult Turkey: Your mama wishes she had breasts like these.

Causing our lovely hostess to declare ..

[14:23] Brucie Lusch: turkey spam attack!

Albeit, Tom was goaded into speaking, by the audience members giving him a click, but still, he could have been more polite.

Jill was annoyed and gave him a piece of her mind after the show.

He said he was sorry and that he had stage fright and really hadn’t meant to be so insulting.

So all was forgiven and we went for a walk.

Later we had dinner at a friend’s place ..

Hold it … Where’s Tom?!!

It’s ok, he was safe at home having a (vegetarian) tv dinner.

For the Record

The RAILS Band Gig Diary - Entry #72 Show Date: November 22, 2009.  Venue: The Notes Shack

A Sunday show for Jeremy and me, at The Notes Shack Pub, operated by Krakov Letov.  As is usually the case at this small cozy room, the atmosphere was friendly and warm, with many people hanging out throughout the 3 hours of performances.  Krakov is a musician and dj himself, and has a good ear, so is able to provide a great musical experience.  He’s also a very brave and entertaining host.  Always, lots of laughs at The Notes Shack Pub!

Following our set was singer songwriter, Zak Claxton, playing his original music mixed with an interesting selection of covers.

After our show Jeremy asked me to check out a record store with him ..

Thanks to Krakov for booking us and to those who came to the show.  It means so much to have you there!
